India-Germany AI Collaboration: Embassy of India Berlin Hosts Lecture on Artificial & Human Intelligence

In a vibrant celebration of scientific collaboration and intellectual inquiry, Ambassador Ajit Gupte inaugurated the second lecture in the Science & Technology Series titled “Artificial & Human Intelligence – The Metrics Connect” at the Embassy of India, Berlin.

Bringing together distinguished voices from both India and Germany, the event explored the intersection of human cognition and artificial intelligence, delving into the complex terrain of measuring intelligence—both biological and machine-based.

The lecture featured thought-provoking contributions from experts representing India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and IIT Kharagpur, alongside leading minds from Germany’s National Metrology Institute (PTB) and scholars affiliated with the Vedanta Societies of New York and Berlin. Topics ranged from the challenges of defining and quantifying intelligence to emerging approaches in digital metrology and the persistent enigma of machine consciousness.

Ambassador Gupte, in his opening remarks, underscored the importance of global collaboration in shaping the ethical and scientific frontiers of artificial intelligence. “As we move toward a future defined by human-machine partnerships, dialogues like these are crucial to building trust, sharing knowledge, and ensuring inclusive innovation,” he noted.

The hybrid event drew an enthusiastic audience, with 150 attendees joining in person from across Germany and more than 150 participants tuning in virtually from around the world.

This lecture marked yet another step in strengthening India-Germany cooperation in science and technology, reinforcing the shared commitment to responsible AI development, interdisciplinary research, and fostering connections between tradition, technology, and thought.
