India-Sweden Business Engagement in Gothenburg, Jharkhand Highlights Investment and Sustainability Opportunities

The Embassy of India in Sweden, in collaboration with the Government of Jharkhand, organized an investor engagement event in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event included Interaction with Industry Representatives and One-to-One Meetings with Delegation Members (G2B, G2G)” and “Investment and Business Opportunities in Jharkhand: Presentation by High-Level Delegation from Government of Jharkhand.

The event saw participation from representatives of leading Swedish companies and members of the Indian diaspora. Rakesh Tiwari Cd’A at the Embassy of India in Stockholm delivered the keynote address, highlighting the growing economic ties between India and Sweden and the emerging investment opportunities in Jharkhand.
Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, invited Swedish companies to explore investment opportunities in Jharkhand, focusing on key sectors: Mineral Exploration, Food Processing, Energy Synergy with a Focus on Sustainability, Electric Vehicles (EV) and Clean Mobility
Senior officers from the Government of Jharkhand delivered detailed presentations showcasing the state’s investor-friendly policies, industrial infrastructure, abundant natural resources, and ongoing initiatives to promote sustainable and inclusive growth. The presentations also outlined Jharkhand’s efforts towards ease of doing business, regulatory transparency, and fostering an innovation-driven economy.
The event emphasized the complementarities between Sweden’s expertise in sustainable technologies and Jharkhand’s focus on green industrialization. It aimed to strengthen Government-to-Business (G2B) and Government-to-Government (G2G) engagements and to promote closer Indo-Swedish collaboration.

Rakesh Tiwari stated in his social media post, "Events like these, highlighting sectors like mineral exploration, food processing, sustainable energy, and EVs, open new doors for global collaboration. Jharkhand’s rich resources and growing infrastructure offer tremendous potential for Swedish companies looking to expand into India. A big step towards strengthening India-Sweden economic ties."
As part of their official engagement to explore advanced transport and industrial solutions, CM Hemant Soren, visited the Volvo Trucks Experience Center in Gothenburg. The delegation was received by Jonas Nilsson, Head of the Volvo Group India Office, along with senior Volvo officials.

The visit facilitated meaningful discussions on potential collaboration in areas such as sustainable mobility, smart logistics, and infrastructure development. Volvo’s leadership shared insights into their innovations in heavy-duty transportation, intelligent systems, and safety technologies, which align with Jharkhand’s vision for modernizing its industrial and logistics ecosystem. The discussions also emphasized Volvo’s advancements in electric truck technology, exploring opportunities to integrate electric mobility solutions into Jharkhand’s evolving transport system.

A key highlight of the visit was a hands-on test drive of a Volvo truck, offering the delegation first hand experience of the vehicle’s advanced features, safety systems, and driver-centric design.
