The Sri Lanka Pavilion was inaugurated by High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India, Mahishini Colonne, with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. She was joined by Chairman of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau Mr. Dheera Hettiarachchi, together with representatives of the Indian and international travel and tourism industry.

The 2026 edition of BLTM brought together a major international gathering of destinations, tourism businesses, hosted buyers and trade professionals, with more than 500 exhibitors,  300 hosted buyers and over 12,000 pre-scheduled business meetings.

The event provided a focused platform for destinations to connect with corporate travel managers, MICE planners, event companies and the wider travel trade.

As Partner Country, Sri Lanka had a strong presence at the exhibition, with 25 Sri Lankan travel agents and hoteliers participating at the national pavilion. Over the three-day event, they engaged in pre-arranged business meetings with hosted buyers and trade visitors from India and international markets, creating opportunities to develop new partnerships and generate business for Sri Lanka.

India is a priority market for Sri Lanka's tourism and MICE sector, with the country's large corporate sector and growing outbound travel market presenting significant opportunities for business events, incentive travel and destination weddings. Sri Lanka's proximity, air connectivity, established tourism infrastructure and diverse range of experiences provide a strong proposition for Indian businesses seeking distinctive destinations for corporate and MICE programmes.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion showcased the country not only as a leisure destination, but as a versatile MICE destination capable of hosting conferences, corporate meetings, incentive programmes, destination weddings and other business events. Visitors were introduced to Sri Lanka's international-standard hotels and resorts, convention facilities, cultural heritage, wellness offerings, adventure experiences and distinctive tourism products.
