The recent visit of India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Jaishankar, to Denmark marked an important moment in the continued strengthening of Indo-Danish relations. As Denmark and India deepen their cooperation across key areas such as green energy, innovation, and sustainable development, this high-level engagement reflects the shared commitment of both nations to building a resilient and forward-looking partnership.
The Ambassador of Denmark Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen to India shares reflections on the significance of the visit, the progress of the Green Strategic Partnership, and the opportunities that lie ahead for greater collaboration.

This week India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Jaishankar, paid a two-day visit to Denmark. I was back in Copenhagen to attend the meetings with the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, the Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Danish Minister for Business Affairs, Morten Bødskov, as well as the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade.
The meetings confirmed how much the bilateral relationship between Denmark and India has developed in recent years underpinned by increased trade and investment as well as strong government-to-government cooperation within key sectors. Today more than 200 Danish companies have a presence in India and their subsidiaries employ well over 100.000 people. At the same time, concrete and impactful partnerships within energy, water, healthcare, food and agriculture, science and technology, IPR as well as urban and maritime affairs have been established to the benefit of both countries.
Denmark and India entered into a Green Strategic Partnership in 2021 emphasising the perfect match between Denmark’s key strengths and experiences within sustainability and cleantech and India’s impressive ambitions to become a green and sustainable great power, as evidenced by the country’s massive investments in for example wind and solar power as well as water infrastructure.
Today the partnership is thriving and the meetings between India’s External Affairs Minister and key Danish stakeholders was a good opportunity to not only take stock of the progress achieved, but also to look ahead and discuss how to take the partnership to the next level in the years to come
