Italy’s participation in the AI Summit will include prominent representatives from institutions, industry, and the research community.

The Italian delegation will be led by the Minister of Industry and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, whose presence represents an opportunity to strengthen the solid partnerships currently in place between Italy and India, including in the field of artificial intelligence, in line with the objectives set out in the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029.

Italy and India promote an ethical and democratic dissemination of artificial intelligence aimed at avoiding the widening of gaps between nations. The AI Summit will offer Italy the opportunity to showcase its excellence in the field of supercomputing, where the country ranks third worldwide.

Italian Pavilion at AI Summit: AI Innovation, Smart Infrastructure & Digital Transformation

At the centre of Italy’s presence is the Italian Pavilion, organised by the Italian Trade Agency, hosting eight innovative technology companies. The Pavilion represents a coordinated country presence aimed at showcasing Italian excellence in artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, and innovation-driven industries.

The space features curated multimedia content, including company video presentations and sector-focused materials, illustrating Italian technological solutions in areas such as industrial automation, advanced manufacturing, AI-enabled enterprise systems, sustainability, digital transformation, blockchain, and smart infrastructure. The Pavilion also serves as an institutional and networking platform, facilitating engagement between Italian companies, Indian stakeholders, industry leaders, and international visitors.

Supercomputing & Research Excellence: Italy’s AI Backbone

The Italian delegation also includes the participation of leading figures from CINECA, CMCC, ENEA, and ENI.

CMCC is a prestigious Italian institution that uses artificial intelligence to improve climate forecasting and prevent extreme events. The foundation will play a key role at the AI Summit, enhancing the visibility of Italian research.

CINECA is one of Italy's largest computing centers, globally recognized for its leadership in High Performance Computing (HPC), and serving as a crucial provider of solutions and services for universities, research centers, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of University and Research, and other institutions.

ENEA is the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development. It is the second major Italian research organization, with around 2700 staff employees distributed in its 9 research centers all over the national territory.

ENI is one of the world’s major integrated energy companies and operates across the entire energy value chain, including oil and gas exploration and production, refining, distribution, power generation, and renewable energy. ENI is increasingly focused on the energy transition, with a strategy aimed at achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Italian companies attending the AI Summit will present the progress made in applying artificial intelligence to their production activities, as in the case of Stellantis, as well as their ongoing projects in the sector, such as those carried out by Almaviva and Harmonic Innovation Group.

The industrial sector will also be represented by AI4I, the Italian institute for artificial intelligence established in 2024 by the Italian government with the aim of promoting technological innovation and accelerating the digital transformation of Italy’s industrial fabric.

Italy’s participation reflects the steady growth of its technology sector. In recent years, the country has seen increasing venture capital activity, a rise in AI and deep-tech startups, and stronger links between research institutions and industry. Cities such as Milan, Rome, Turin, and Bologna are emerging as innovation hubs, supported by a solid industrial base that allows Italian companies to apply AI to real-world manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and enterprise challenges.

Italy Positions Itself as a Trusted AI & DeepTech Partner for India

Participation in the AI Impact Summit underscores Italy’s commitment to international partnerships in high-technology sectors. As India accelerates its AI ambitions, Italy aims to position itself as a reliable technology partner, combining research excellence, industrial know-how, and agile innovation.

Through the Italian Pavilion, the Italian Trade Agency seeks not only to promote individual companies but also to deepen bilateral cooperation between Italy and India in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, building bridges between two innovation-driven economies.
