In a significant boost to India's maritime prowess, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Tamal, its newest stealth multi-role frigate, in a formal ceremony held at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia. The event was presided over by Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Cutting-Edge Capabilities
INS Tamal represents a new generation of Indian naval warships, integrating advanced technologies and multi-domain warfare capabilities. Compared to its predecessors, the frigate is outfitted with enhanced combat and surveillance systems, including:
Vertically Launched Surface-to-Air Missiles (VL-SAM)
Upgraded 100 MM naval gun
Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) targeting systems
30 MM Close-In Weapon System (CIWS)
Heavyweight torpedoes and urgent-attack anti-submarine rockets
State-of-the-art fire control and surveillance radars
These features ensure formidable air defense, surface strike, and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, making INS Tamal a highly versatile asset in India's naval arsenal.

The frigate is designed to operate with Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and multi-role helicopters, significantly extending its reach and effectiveness in various maritime operations, including search and rescue, surveillance, and anti-surface warfare.
